My nazar

i begin the first day of this new year to find my 'nazar' gone. My 'nazar' is a circular piece of blue stone with a painted eye on it; it had been attached to my work tool for the past few years and today it's gone.

The Turkish 'nazar' or evil eye stone (Turkish: nazar boncuğu) is an amulet from ancient mythology that protects against the evil eye. The 'evil eye'  is a look that is believed by many cultures to be able to cause injury or bad luck on the person at whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike. The term also refers to the power, superstitiously attributed to certain persons, of inflicting injury or bad luck by such a look.

i mourn the loss of my 'nazar' not so much 'cos of the superstitious belief that i've lost protection against evil at the work place but the sad fact that it's a souvenir gotten from Turkey while on vacation there 10years ago.
Maybe i should not have made dark wishes on the last day of last year huh? Bah! No regrets on that still.
